California Valley Solar Ranch
Water Systems
ADS Engineering provided electrical and instrumentation design for the California Valley Solar Ranch reverse osmosis membrane treatment plant and related systems. RO system is based on a single two-stage train with bag and cartridge filter in pretreatment, clean in place system, chemical feed and monitoring systems, finished water storage and brine disposal.

Project Highlights:
  • Design plant low voltage distribution system for the reverse osmosis system, supporting systems and process building.
  • Implementation of variable frequency drives.
  • Design of plantwise control PLC system with redundant fiber optic communication data highway for the monitoring and control of on site plant systems.
  • Instrumentation implementation.
  • Design control and monitoring strategies include pretreatment system, acid addition, and cartridge filtration; membrane treatment including feedwater pumping, interstage pumping, reverse osmosis treatment, and associated membrane cleaning facilities; post-treatment including disinfection, chemical addition for water stabilization, and water storage.
  • Provided alarm and historical monitoring and trending with the usage of iFIX historical.
  • Implemented advanced algorithms for RO system and transfer pumping to provide flexible system control.
